The term "brand" is a catch-all for a miscellaneous "department" -- actually, the word "BRAND" on the screen can be changed to whatever you want.  This selection allows you to view, edit, and add Brand codes (or the department type you define), which are used for categorizing sales, and for sorts and reports.
